Some people know how to be happy and make a habit of it.  Happiness is within the reach of all of us, even in today’s stressful world. Some of us have forgotten what it feels like to be really happy. Perhaps it’s connected to that yearning you feel in the center of your chest, that longing to be, do, have and live your dreams.

Even people who make a habit of happiness have challenges — ups and downs, fear, anger, and disappointment. It’s how they deal with the challenges that determines their quality of life. The same goes for each of us.

Many of us have habits brought forward from childhood that we don’t even realize are habits we can change. They’ve been with us for so long and have become so “normal” that we think, “That’s just the way I am.” It’s not. We can change the way we think. And when we change the way we think, we change our lives.

Like anything else that we want to make a habit, it takes focus. Learning how to play the violin, to speak a new language, to be a good cook, to manage a business, or to be a loving wife or husband, takes practice, focus, and desire.

So go down the list and see what’s missing in your life. Focus on one step at a time if necessary. You already know what you DON’T want, what’s NOT working, so make a list of what you DO want and what IS working.
